Aerogarden Adventures

My sister and I have had enough birthdays and other gift holidays over the years to work out a fairly good system. We either ask for suggestions from the person getting the gifts, and try to work from there, or double up on something we wanted anyway. Over the years, that's included bread makers, juicers, books and movies; and this year I decided to get us each an Aerogarden 7 LED.

I don't remember where I first heard about the Aerogarden, but I remember seeing author Myke Cole showing pictures of his.

Fresh herbs are great to cook with, and I figured this would be a good gift to keep us occupied for a couple of years at least.

My sister got a jump start on me because I spent a week in Delaware after the Aerogardens had shipped, but I'm only a few days behind. I started with the herbs I was most interested in, the Thai Basil, Dill, Mint, Chives, Genovese Basil, and Curly Parsley. The herb kit also came with Cilantro, but since that's not an herb I'm on speaking terms with, I left it in the box.

The setup was very easy, just follow the instructions. I saw the first sprout after about 48 hours.

It's still early days, but the herbs are coming in. I'll post and update around the first harvest time.
