The past few days have been very interesting and memorable. I finally found a nice (and small) dining table for my apartment from a work friend, Connie. It's very nice and sturdy.
Retrieving the table required venturing way into the country, but it was a fun drive and it was nice to have a tour of Connie and Ron's house.
On a recommendation from Amie, I found a couple of solid dining chairs at a local used furniture place. They are also very solid and comfortable.
I've been on vacation for a few days, just taking some nice time to relax and work on some personal projects. This has also included some drinking :-)
The first day of vacation was Al's birthday, and I joined them for dinner. Next thing I knew, Amie and I had put away 3 bottles of wine, and we'd spent a fun evening sitting on their porch. So I spent the first day of my vacation a bit hung over.
To continue the fun, I joined Al last night to check out a local vintage car meet-up under the Fuller Warren bridge, however, no one showed. Probably due to the holidays, so we took the opportunity to do a bit of bar hopping. We went to a small spot in Five Points, then grabbed a beer at 'The Island' on Roosevelt. But the real fun was at a small bar in Avondale called Eclipse. It was nice and loud, and a good sized patio area where folks were hanging out under the stars. The crowd was a good age mix, but it must have been a Goth night of sorts. It was a friendly and interesting crowd. We both agreed we need to check it out again in the future.
I have a few more days of vacation, so I'm going to get back to reading and relaxing.
